About StartAnEntity

A plain-English reference for forming an LLC in any U.S. state.

We publish independent, no-fluff formation guides — one per state, plus the essentials every founder needs after filing.

Why StartAnEntity exists

The internet is overflowing with content about forming an LLC, but most of it is written to sell you a service. We started StartAnEntity because we kept watching first-time founders pay hundreds of dollars for filings they could have completed themselves in an hour — not because they wanted the help, but because no one had explained the process in language they could actually follow.

Our goal is simple: publish the clearest, most accurate state-by-state LLC guides available, with no upsells in the way.

How we work

Every guide on StartAnEntity follows the same editorial process:

  1. Primary research. We start with the actual statutes and the official state filing portals — not with what other content sites say.
  2. Drafting. A staff editor writes the guide in plain English, with no jargon left unexplained.
  3. Fact-check. A second editor verifies every fee, deadline, and form reference against the source.
  4. Quarterly review. Every published guide is re-checked at least every 90 days. Filing fees and deadlines change more often than most readers realize.

What we will never do

  • Recommend a formation service we haven't independently used.
  • Run sponsored content without a clear, prominent disclosure.
  • Publish "best of" rankings ordered by who paid us the most.

Who we are

StartAnEntity is operated by a small, fully-remote editorial team based across the United States. Our editors bring backgrounds in small-business journalism, paralegal work, and accounting — all of which we draw on to keep our coverage accurate and useful.
